my dearest friend augusta came to LA for a visit with her sweetest wolfgang about a month ago. the thing with wolfgang is that his mother and father are some of my closest friends in the world - we all went to college in olympia together - and so that basically makes me the most adoring auntie ever. his disposition is so sweet, playful and pensive and we had the greatest time on the beaches in malibu. wolfgang was very apprehensive about the water and the sand for the first couple of beach visits [his is a NYC boy after all], and this day in particular, he really let loose and was splashing around in the water like nobody's business, laughing, running and carrying on. it was truly special to see him connecting with the elements in such a daring and playful way.
on our way back to the city, we saw this beautiful flag installation in the pepperdine campus lawn right off PCH; the flags mounted in the lawn represented those that lost their lives in 9-11 - a flag representing each country of the person that had passed. it was beautiful and worth the stop, as the photos turned out magically.
enjoy this portrait session with the beautiful, adoring mother and son. all images are shot on my 35mm camera.
